Visit the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation
This huge attraction is often included as part of Detroit excursions. The museum highlights the history of American innovation of all kinds. Here, you'll see artifacts from the Wright brother's first flight, Rosa Parks' push to see change in civil rights and equality realized, farm equipment from the 1800s, and even ride on a steam-powered locomotive. Since it is a Henry Ford museum, you'll also find exhibits paying tribute to the early days of Ford, and get to see an original Model-T.
Often included with tours of the museum are guided trips through the Ford Rouge Factory. This working factory is the location where the Ford F-150 truck is built, so you'll get a firsthand look at the company's latest innovations.
Explore the Detroit Zoo
This large zoo is famous in the region for its wide variety of animal life. Here, you'll find lions, zebras, giraffes, and more in the Africa section. In the Asian Forest section, you'll get to see Amur tigers and red pandas. You'll even find polar bears in the popular Arctic Habitat. You'll find even more unique animals in the Australian Outback, North American, Amphibian, and Aviary sections of the Detroit Zoo.
