Nantucket was settled in 1641. The island is located about 30 miles South of Cape Cod; it is home to over 11 thousand residents, and over 50 thousand in the Summer months. Nantucket Island, together with Tuckernuck and Muskeget Islands, make up the Town and County of Nantucket. The name "Nantucket" stands for "far away island."
